QUOTA4YOUTH MALAWI ROOTING FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ON DEMOCRACY

The non-governmental youth based organisation, Quota4Youth has launched the,Lunch for Democracy” initiative in different universities in Malawi between March- April 2025.


The initiative which started in the United Kingdom and United States of America has managed to reach out University Of Livingstonia, Catholic University of Malawi and Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Nature Recourses, where they engaged students on democratic discourse to seek their opinions on various governance issues through a shared meal. The launch was supported by WonderFuture


Speaking at the event, The Executive Member, Lumbani Kanjiso Gondwe, said democracy thrives where conversations about good governance ,civic responsibility and the power of collective voices are more important.


However, The executive Director, Precious Mafunga said  Malawians should embrace opinions from Youths and engage them in the quest to safeguard Democracy in Malawi .

  Malawian Artist ,To Realise Uplifting Song  #Alinafe Jonas  A Malawian artist residing in South Africa, namely Ibrahim Jumbe is planning to release a new song titled "Nthawi" this coming Wednesday , with an aim of encouraging people who are going through difficult times.  Jumbe whose artistic name is IB , created the song after witnessing many Malawians losing hope due to challenges such as unemployment, poverty, and depression. "Nthawi" is an uplifting song that reminds listeners that everything has its time and that their suffering will eventually come to an end. The song is designed to help people forget their problems and focus on the hope that better times are ahead. IB says he believes that their music reflects Malawian culture, as the song is sung in the Chewa language.  Leaked Victory: A Tall or Head?  Alinafe Jonas People in Mzuzu flooded the streets this afternoon, celebrating Peter Mutharika's unannounced victory. This comes as the Malawi Electoral Commission was expected to announce the winner of the September 16 presidential election in the evening.  According to unofficial results, Mutharika has taken the lead against President Lazarus Chakwera .  Malawians last voted in the 2020 fresh presidential election held on June 23, 2020. This election saw Lazarus Chakwera emerge victorious with 59.34% of the vote, defeating Peter Mutharika, whose 2019 election victory was annulled due to irregularities. The 2020 election was a re-run, and Chakwera's win marked a significant shift in Malawi's politics.  #GoodMakesGoodNews
